   討論完如何在Color filter玻璃的BM層使用金屬線來做觸控Sensor後,當然要開始討論如何將金屬線在Array 玻璃上做SensorSuperC-Touch在此方面提出數十種可行方案,其中使用於TFT LCD的結構時,必然要面對Vcom層介於手指與Sensor中間所造成的Shielding 效應,這個問題讓所有以偵測電容變化的技術變的不可行,本發明的目的就是解決上述不可行問題的最佳方案,方法就是將此Vcom層圖案化,在相對於觸控Sensor位置的Vcom層上留出一些空隙,讓觸控訊號可以穿透此空隙來與手指互動,所以觸控時仍有足夠的電容變化可以測量的到。

所以本專利是屬於將各種金屬線佈植在Array 玻璃上做Sensor時必備的上游專利,具有關鍵性的地位。

專利摘要
    本創作提供一種液晶顯示面板觸控結構,其包括有一第一基板、一第二基板、一薄膜電晶體層及一共通電極層。第一及第二基板以平行成對之配置將一液晶層夾置於二基板之間。薄膜電晶體層位於第二基板之相對於液晶層之同一側的表面,薄膜電晶體層具有K條閘極驅動線及L條源極驅動線,依據一顯示像素訊號及一顯示驅動訊號,用以驅動對應之電晶體及電容,進而執行顯示操作。共通電極層位於第一與第二基板之間,共通電極層具有複數個多邊形通孔,複數個多邊形通孔設置位置係相對於薄膜電晶體層的至少一部份閘極驅動線及至少一部份源極驅動線。

存在疑问如下:
触控层做在cell的那一层?可以实现几点触控?与目前流行的in-cellOn-cell有何差别等等

Ans:
1.這件發明是使用在一般的 TFT LCD螢幕上,所以LCD V com位於彩色濾光的玻璃上,本發明是將LCDVcom層圖案化做為觸控的sensor
  2.比現有的 in cell / on cell製作程序還要簡單許多,所以良率高,成本自然便宜許多
  3.使用藏在BM下的金屬線連接觸控sensor與觸控IC,所以沒有電阻的問題,也不會降低開口率或降低光學特性
  4.LCDV com層圖案化做為觸控的sensor,所以也沒有觸控sensorLCD Vcom層太近所產生的電容效應問題
  5.如果怕LCD的雜訊影響觸控IC的訊號偵測,可使用如Apple in cell的分時作業就可以避開雜訊的問題
  6.電阻,電容,雜訊,開口率,光學特性五大問題一次解決,所以讓大部份的觸控IC設計公司推出可適用的觸控IC應該都不成問題
  7.可以超過10點以上的觸控
  8.結論
   
   本發明專利是讓in cell 面板好生產,良率高,觸控IC又好找,成本又可以大幅下降,光學特性最好的

1.  所有的大廠都跟您一樣剛收到本專利的通知,所以還要一段時間消化內容.
 2.  我們設定的目標比這個專利所描述的還要大,不是短期可以完成的,看看三年做不做得到,這個專利所適用的觸控IC技術不太具有挑戰性,我打算挑戰難度較高的層級.

For using the exiting touch IC which must lower the transmittance to 80~90% level, user’s acceptance is a big concern. () Mutual capacitance too small to detect. While using mutual capacitance touch technology with metal mesh structures, due to the mutual capacitance is too small to detect, therefore, the metal mesh sensor structure with self-capacitance detection technique appears to be inevitable, then, using self-capacitance detection technique with multi sensor pads structure to achieve true multi-touch is more reasonable choice. The present invention is a good example that how to implant metal mesh to implement multi-point capacitive structure and to overcome the wiring difficulties. We provide this patent to firms who intend to develop such technology to use.

SUMMARY OF THE PATENT:
The creation provides a three-dimensional structure of the metal wire touch panel which includes a panel and a plurality of electrode pads. Has a surface of the panel. A plurality of electrode pads based on a first direction and a second direction arranged on the surface, wherein the plurality of electrode pads in a first direction, with N electrode pads for a group, each i-th electrode pad of the group with an i-th metal trace extend to one side of the panel, i is an integer and 1 i N.   Admiring you were the first one to disclose the prices of patents on public; my question is what criteria do you use for pricing? Whether the third patent 5,000,000 U.S dollar pricing too high?

Ans.:
Thank you for your question, what a difficult question to answer. There is always a first time for everything. I wonder if you still remember starring Kevin Costner's "Dances with Wolves" movie, tells the story of the American Civil confrontation, military faceoff to the extremely boring, his horse bolted in between the two armies, so that the enemy targeted when playing live, finally provoked the army's morale, defeated the enemy and ended the war. Now look back at the touch technology development, as seems boring to the extreme. The front-end detection technologies have encountered bottlenecks; software algorithms also have made every effort, more and more firms constantly tried to solve the problem by increasing the signal voltage, on behalf of evolutionary road come a bottleneck. What to do next? It always needs some people to stand out and do something different. In fact, the patent is difficult to have a standard pricing, to buy or not to buy there are too many uncertainties. A useful patent is priceless, but useless patents are junk. However, be useful or useless patents buy mostly luck, only a few rely on the expertise. My patent price is made up with reference of several batch proprietary trading cases, total $ 10.825 billion to buy 23,835 patents, an average of $ 454,000 per patent, are derived from the average value multiplied by a quality factor. If I evaluate it is better than average, then the quality factor is greater than 1, otherwise less than 1. The third patent is compared with the Apple iPhone 5's in cell touch technology, In spite of all the terms are better than Apple's in cell touch structure, so sell 500 million dollars has been seriously underestimated, but still out to contribute to the industry.

   討論完如何在Color filter玻璃的BM層使用金屬線來做觸控Sensor後,換個方向來看看觸控結構的另一主流技術 金屬網格”Metal mesh”,這個觸控結構是未來最有可能取代ITO材料,並且使用於大尺寸觸控面板的觸控結構,具有成本便宜,生產容易的優點,然而到現在還無法真正量產的原因有三項,() 要讓視覺上看不到金屬線,其金屬線寬可能必須小於5um,目前只有LCD的生產廠商才有設備可以做得到,觸控面板廠商的設備精度都還不足,() 為透光度的考量,要讓使用者可以接受的程度必須要達到98%的透光度,表示Sensor的面積要減少98%,相當於面積必須縮小50倍,相對的觸控感應量也可能縮小50倍,以目前的觸控IC的能力來看還無法偵測到如此微小的訊號,SuperC-Touch研發的微擾共振技術雖然可行,可惜還沒量產,所以金屬網格的現階段的產品目標,要將透光率降到80~90%的水準,才有可用的觸控IC,使用者的接受度是很大的考驗,() 金屬網格的觸控結構如使用互電容的技術時,由於互電容太小以至於量不到感應訊號,所以金屬網格搭配自電容的檢測技術看來無法避免,而自電容結構要達到真正多點觸控,藉由多點的自電容結構是較合理的選擇,本發明案就是運用多點自電容結構下如何佈植金屬網格,並克服走線困難的範例,提供給打算開發此類技術的廠商使用。

    佩服李總是第一位把專利拿出來公開定價的,我的疑問是定價的標準為何,第三件專利定價500萬美金會不會太高。

Ans: 感謝提問,很難回答的問題。
     我想凡事總有第一次,不知大家還記不記得凱文科斯納主演的 與狼共舞這部電影,故事敘述美國南北對抗時,兩軍對恃到極其沉悶時,男主角騎馬跑到戰場中間狂奔,讓敵軍當活靶打,最後激起我軍的士氣,打敗敵軍而結束戰爭,再看看現在的觸控技術發展現況,視乎也悶到了極點,觸控的前端偵測技術碰到瓶頸,軟體演算法也竭盡所能,越來越多的業者開始用提高訊號電壓來解決問題,代表進化的路走到了瓶頸,下一步該怎麼辦,總要有人站出來做些不一樣的事。

    其實專利是很難有訂價標準的,買或不買都有太多的不確定因素,買到有用的專利價值連城,沒用的專利如同垃圾,而有用或是無用多半靠運氣,少數靠專業知識,專利價格是我由幾個大批專利買賣的案例,總計108.25億美元買23835件專利,每件專利平均為45.4萬美元,所推算出來的平均值再乘上(品質係數),如果自認比專利的平均好係數就大於1,反之則小於1

    第三件專利是用來與Apple iPhone 5 in cell touch技術做比較的,無論各方面來看都勝過Apple in cell touch結構,所以賣500萬美金已經是嚴重低估了,不過還是拿出來與大家結緣。

Case of the present invention and the invention (TW 201031961) of Apple iPhone 5 with the same purpose, not only has its advantages, but also to avoid the iPhone 5 in-cell panel is not easy to produce the main drawback; Apple's invention is applicable to FFS or IPS screen, SuperC-Touch patent for TFT LCD screen, Apple applied to pattern the LCD Array V com layer on the substrate glass as Sensor, SuperC-Touch put ​​LCD V com layer on color filter which is patterned as Sensor. Apple used the mutual capacitance structure, SuperC-Touch with the point self-capacitance structure, Apple's invention requires time-sharing operation, so the reaction time slows down at report rate decreased, the reaction will be too late for mid and large size panel, only could be applied on the small size panel; SuperC-Touch’s patent may detect touch and display processing operations at the same time, no report rate decrease, estimates can be applied to up to 23” in-cell touch display panels. Apple used IPS, FFS screen which its Vcom layer is on TFT array glass, so its sensors could not be isolated from the LCD drive signals cause electromagnetic interference, Many manufacturers coated an ITO layer on the color filter glass that used to isolate the electromagnetic waves in order to solve problems of electromagnetic detection requirements of different nation. Once you add this layer of ITO after, Apple in cell touch wouldn’t be used, so many of the LCD manufacturers could not join Apple in cell supply chain. In SuperC-Touch’s patent, the V com layer on TFT LCD color filter itself can be used to isolate the electromagnetic wave, so the ITO layer is not necessary

In addition to these differences above, the two have in common is the touch IC's requirements are not high, manufacturers can provide touch IC at least the following, AppleSynapticsAtmelCypressSilicon labMicrochipSTMicroElanEETIFocalTechGOODIX,etc. You do not need to wait until SuperC-Touch invented the "perturbation resonance" technology touch IC developed, can immediately commercialization. This SuperC-Touch’s patent is the best weapon to seize the market of mainland China.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The object of the present invention is to provide an in-cell touch display panel system with metal lines connected to sensing electrodes in V com layer, comprising a first and a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a light-shielding layer, a sensing electrode layer, an insulating layer, and a sensing electrode routing layer. Shielding layer constituted by a plurality of shading lines. Sensing electrode’s routing layer is located on the surface of the light-shielding layer by a plurality of conductor wires. The insulating layer is located on the surface of the sensing electrode routing layer which is faced to the liquid crystal layer. Sensing electrode layer is located on the surface of insulating layer with respect to one surface of the liquid crystal layer, by the common electrode (V com) is patterned to form a plurality of transparent sensing electrodes. Each sensing electrode has at least one conductor lines connected thereto, the plurality of the routing positions of the conductor lines were based on the plurality of the light shielding lines and set up corresponding to the positions.

   本發明案與Apple iPhone 5用的in cell touch發明(TW 201031961)有異曲同工之妙,不但有其優點,更避開了 iPhone 5 in cell不易生產的主要缺點,Apple的發明適用於FFSIPS 的螢幕,SuperC-Touch的專利適用於TFT LCD的螢幕,AppleLCD Array玻璃上的V com層圖案化作成觸控SensorSuperC-TouchLCD color filter玻璃上的 Vcom層圖案化作成觸控SensorApple用的是互電容結構,SuperC-Touch用的是點自電容結構,Apple的發明需要分時作業,讓反應時間變慢,報點率降低,所以只能使用在小尺寸的面板,中大尺寸時會來不及報點,SuperC-Touch的專利可於相同時間內讓觸控偵測與顯示處理同時分區作業,不會降低報點率,所以不會受限於小尺寸的面板,預估可做到23” in cell 觸控面板,Apple in cell的製程很複雜所以良率比較差,SuperC-Touch的製程簡單,良率自然提高,Apple所用的IPS,FFS螢幕的Vcom層在array玻璃上所以無法隔離由LCD驅動訊號造成電磁干擾,許多生產廠商為了解決各國電磁檢測問題,於是在color filter玻璃的外側鍍上一層ITO,用來隔離電磁波,一旦加上此層ITO後,Apple in cell的觸控就無法使用,讓許多的LCD生產廠商無法加入Apple in cell的供應鏈,SuperC-TouchTFT LCDcolor filter上之Vcom層就可以用來隔離電磁波,所以不用再加上一層ITO

    除了以上的不同點外,兩者的共同點就是對觸控IC的要求都不高,可以提供觸控IC的廠商至少有,AppleSynapticsAtmelCypressSilicon labMicrochipSTMicro,義隆,禾瑞亞,敦泰,匯頂等,不用等到SuperC-Touch發明的 微擾共振技術的觸控IC開發出來,立即可以商品化的方案,是可以搶佔大陸市場的最佳武器。

Description:
     Directly use metal or metal composite structure as BM layer, and pattern it for self-capacitance points sensing structure, without increasing the mask can be completed, with SuperC-Touch’s previous patent M445719, serves the same purpose but different approaches.

Applying the metal line as sensor below the BM layer of LCD to perform touch function, there should be no more than the above two methods; no ITO; and the optical characteristics and yield is very good. Rework is easy, no lamination issue and lowest cost.

Cost reduction estimation for 4.3” mobile phone is around 3 to 10 USD
Cost reduction estimation for 7” tablet is around 5 to 10 USD
Cost reduction estimation for 10” tablet is around 10 to 15 USD

Conservatively estimated to win 10% of the market share, it is possible to create more than 3 billion (USD / yr.) profit margins.

The US, China, Korea and European Union version of the patents will be sold at the price of 3 million USD (US), 1.5 million USD (CN), 1.5 million USD (KR) and 1.5 million USD (EU) respectively in the future.

The touch structure which applying metal material as touch sensor located in the invisible region below BM of color filter can be divided into two categories, patents using mutual capacitance techniques such as Apple Us 8,243,027 and Samsung TW201217863, they all mentioned of VCOM of LCD is patterned as TX lines and use metal as RX sensor lines to hidden below the BM layer of color filter. It seems there is not much design around space. SuperC-Touch’s patent using the point sensor structure of self-capacitance which applying metal material as touch sensors hidden below the BM of color filter. The method can come up with nothing more than the current proposed two patents; it seems not too much space design around. So its importance is the same as both Apple's patent and Samsung’s patent.

I have created a patent pricing publicly traded business model supported by many Industry veteran predecessors’ enthusiastic encouragement and feedback. The enthusiastic response includes many suggestions and questions, and after some finishing and summarized, provided to you for reference.

1.      Whether there is co-operation of the IC manufacturers and touch panel manufacturers? Are there samples available?
Ans.: There are no touch IC manufacturers to consult an authorized, have yet to sample.
2.      Does your patent may be the possibility of implementation?
Ans.: From Apple and Samsung's patent application content, the two main manufacturers have agreed to do Metal Sensor below the BM Here is feasible.
3.      Whether to apply in the IPS, FFS panels?
Ans.: After Discussing with Taiwan panel makers about sensor located below BM layer, point out that the metal wires would impact on display performance, in my opinion is to be determined after the experiment, otherwise just inference..

4.      How can the sensor get connect to the controller IC?
Ans.: Please refer to Patent No. I380072 AUO has a very detailed description of that.

5.      The sensors at the bottom of the BM is very close to VCOM layer, and the size of the wire of sensors is very tiny, so it is big challenge of touch IC, which manufacture's touch IC is fit of the requirement?
Ans.: So far I have not seen any touch IC can be used, but SuperC-Touch has completed experiments to prove that with self-developed "perturbation resonance" touch IC technology does work.

6.      Does your company have complete patent information such as Report on new technologies for you?

8.      Why not apply for invention patent but apply for a utility model patent?
   Ans.: In practice, the utility model patent is more useful than invention patent.
       The reasons are as following.
a.       The rights effective duration is different, a utility model patent 10-year, an invention patent 20 years from the date of filing. The right available time by the approved date to enter into force.
The Examination time of a utility model patent is usually less than 6 months, the Examination time of an invention patent is generally greater than three years review, in reviewing the time is difficult to provide patent protection; at the current product life cycle perspective, utility model patents than invention patents in timeliness have used more. There are many patents trial for seven to eight years to get approve and the product is already out of the market.

b.      Different elements of the review, the review of a utility model patent only examine whether the case before, not novelty and progress of the trial. Invention patent is to examine whether there is the case before with novelty and progressive, only three are in line with approved. So to claim the patent is invalid, utility model patents than invention patents cannot easily be overthrown. That is because a utility model patent could be overthrown only when there was a case before, but an invention patent could also be overthrown by not novelty and progress.

c.       Most of the cases can apply for invention patents, but not apply utility patents.

d.      Both in the use of the right are the same, not better or worse.
